This project is very unique and not just because it is a Stephen King adaptation. This film is a "Dollar Baby" which is a special non-commercial deal Stephen King offers to students and independent filmmakers. For permission to adapt a short story you must sign a brief contract and send one dollar to King. Since the rights are noncommercial, the film can only be shown at film festivals or as a part of a professional reel. There have been numerous dollar babies over the years, the first was given to Frank Darabont who went on to make "Shawshank Redemption" which is adapted from another King story. Most dollar babies are low budget student shorts with a few notable exceptions. Those exceptions range in length from 8 minutes to over 30. With budgets ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of dollars.

Everything's Eventual is unique because it is the first feature length Dollar Baby. It is also, in my opinion, amongst the top Dollar Babies in quality, scale, production value and professionalism. This film is my first feature length project, which I also produced, and it was a great experience. I can't say that everything went right, we did have our share of challenges, but I can say that nothing went horribly wrong. If it had then I wouldn't be writing this!

I can also say that this film exceeded all of my original expectations. The film looks great, the locations are excellent, the sound and score are exceptional. Of course I am also very partial to the story, script and acting talent in the film. Michael (Dinky) was a lucky break for us. He was only here by accident and he happened to come to the audition. His performance captured the essence of Dinky. Joe (Sharpton) was absolutely and unquestionably perfect for this role. His natural British charm and demeanour made it easy for him to dive deep into Sharpton's psyche. Joe's performance of Sharpton is spot on in every scene.

This project was a learning experience too. I learned that I can make a feature, which is no easy task. I learned that I want to be a director and/or producer and that I want to make another film ASAP. It is still amazing how much goes into making a film, this project took about 14 months from start to finish. It is equally amazing how many people are involved in making a film. I will take more from this experience than any other single project I have ever been on.

In closing I would like to thank everyone who helped make this project possible. Chad, Greg, Steve, Margaret, Robert, Rich, Jim, Jeremy, Yoshi, Anissa to name some of them. Thank you all so much! I hope that this film honours you and your work and that you are proud to say you hand a hand in the film that is "Everything's Eventual". I could not have done it without you.

Sincerely,

J.P. Scott
